CEO of Brignall Equipment Solutions, Ben Brignall contributes to the community in numerous ways. As a business owner, he considers himself fortunate to help the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo region by sponsoring events, sports teams, and many non-profit organizations.
He has been called humble, giving, kind-hearted, energetic, and very meticulous by those who know him, and he recently sat down with YMM to chat about his life as one of this year’s Top 50 Under 50.
YMM: What is the most rewarding part of your career?
BB: Being able to create jobs within our community, working with an amazing team of people and watching them grow. Helping young adults or teens achieve their goals to become successful within the workplace or trades.
YMM: What keeps you in Fort McMurray?
BB: Fort McMurray has provided me with so many opportunities for learning, career advancements and becoming a successful entrepreneur. Growing up in Fort McMurray has given me a huge advantage in life to be able to stay in my hometown where my friends and family are while taking advantage of all those opportunities. As we all know and are proud to talk about as members of this community, the people here are the most caring and giving folks that you have ever seen and are willing to step up and help in any situation that comes our way. We honestly live in the best place on earth!
YMM: In your opinion, in what areas does Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo need improvement?
BB: Fort McMurray has come a long way over the years and continues to become a better place each day. There is always room for improvement in anything, but for the most part, I am very happy with Fort McMurray.
YMM: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
BB: The first thing that came to mind was becoming a successful entrepreneur in my twenties. But after putting a little more thought into this question, I would have to say that graduating high school is an accomplishment that I am most proud of. As a teenager I was focused on beginning my career as a Heavy Equipment Technician and didn’t believe I needed to finish my education. Luckily enough I had a few people in my corner to point me in the right direction when I needed it most.
YMM: What motivates you?
BB: Being presented with an obstacle to overcome or having the opportunity to assist someone in a difficult situation that they may be struggling with. Helping friends or co-workers through challenges, whether it be personal or work-related, is rewarding to me.
