Event Planners, Cass & Nat Event Planning

CLASS OF 2023

, AGE 34 and 30

As the talent behind Cass & Nat Event Planning, this Power Duo is adding their signature style everywhere you look. YMM: What is the most rewarding part of your career? CBG: To bring people together in a physical space. With every event we create we also create an experience for people to remember. It is an incredible chance we have to steal a little piece of someone’s heart with your vision and be able to bring them on an emotional journey. Sometimes those journeys create lasting changes in a community. NL: Being chosen by people to create the most important day in their life, and seeing everyone having fun and smiling. YMM: What keeps you in Fort McMurray? CBG: When we moved to Fort McMurray nine years ago, we had (probably like most of you who are reading this) a five-year plan. But the years went by, and we realized this is not just a five-year plan, but a place we wanted to raise our kids and make sure we were giving them the best life opportunity. The kids love it, we love it and we are forever grateful for all the opportunities this city has to offer us. We love the outdoors and this city has plenty of outdoor activities in every season. NL: The community itself. Most people up here are in the same boat of not having any family members close and living with shift work. I feel like we are a big supportive and loving community always ready to help or lift up each other. YMM: What accomplishment are you most proud of? CBG: Running a successful business in English. I was born in Northern New Brunswick and was not fluent at all in English until I moved up here, so interacting on a daily basis 100% in English is the accomplishment I am most proud of. NL: Building Cass & Nat event planning will always be my most proud success. It’s been a massive learning experience and really pushed me out of my comfort zone and I’m really proud of myself for that. YMM: How have your priorities changed in the last 10 years? CBG: My priorities have completely changed in the past 10 years. I went from living in my home province close to the house where I grew up, to moving 6,000 kilometres away to a town I had never been to. Having kids also has completely changed the way I see my life. NL: I moved to the other side of the country, got a house, had kids, got married, and my world has been all about our little family since. YMM: What would you say to your 12-year-old self? CBG: Do not take the path of least resistance, fail often, learn and grow. NL: Believe in yourself. You are a good person who can do big things. YMM: In your opinion, how should success be measured? CBG: A great way is to compare your present self to your past self, if the present keeps getting better than the previous version then you succeeded. NL: How much effort, love and time do you want to put into it? YMM: Who is your hero, and why? CBM: My grandmother. She worked two jobs while raising four kids. She compromised, she sacrificed, and she lived her life for her family. She showed me the real meaning of unconditional love. NL: My mom. She has always been a strong and determined mom/businesswoman. She inspired me a lot When I became a mom and since I started my business.
