MM: The most rewarding part of my career is being able to help coach and teach people on their fitness journey to the results that they want. YMM: What motivates you? MM: Knowing that I love my work and that I’m helping others accomplish their goals motivates me. YMM: What do you consider to be the best things about our community? MM: This is a great community. The people are very supportive. YMM: What does community mean to you? MM: Community is a group of people that you do life with, and trust. Sometimes community can also be the people you enjoy a specific activity with. YMM: What accomplishments are you most proud of? MM: I am proud of representing Fort McMurray Canada at the 2018 Obstacle Course World Championships in London, England. I am proud of hosting Salsa night at some of our local restaurants, as well as starting the Acroyoga Community. I am also proud of helping Oranj Fitness launch in Fort McMurray. YMM: What is the best advice that you ever received? MM: True leadership is learning how to serve people in love with actions not just words. YMM: What would you say to your 12-year-old self? MM: Be open to new experiences in life. Hard work does pay off. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Listen to wise advice from the people you trust. YMM: How have your priorities changed in the last 10 years? MM: I used to stick to one modality in the Fitness Industry. Now, I have expanded that in multiple parts of the industry and I enjoy coaching upcoming instructors. YMM: Who is your hero, and why? MM: Kobe Bryant is my hero. The Mamba Mentality shows that hard work with discipline pays off. He also showed the same mentality when he retired, making a huge impact that went beyond basketball. YMM: What are you most grateful for? MM: I’m grateful for God, and the amazing friends and family that I have. I am also grateful for the support the community of Fort McMurray has shown me over the years.
