Jason McDougall is an amazing local business owner with extremely loyal employees. He is always going the extra mile to help the commmunity.
As the owner/operator of Climate Control Ltd., he uses his expertise to help non-profits in need. He recently chatted with YMM about his life as one of this year’s Top 50 Under 50.
YMM: What is the most rewarding part of your career?
JM: It’s rewarding to help people in the community. It’s minus 30 outside and the furnace stops working or plus 30 and the AC stops working. It’s enjoyable to be able to show up and everyone is happy to see me, I’m able to fix it up and get people comfortable again, everyone is so appreciative that it makes me happy that I can put my skills to good use.
YMM: What accomplishment are you most proud of?
JM: Climate Control will be in business for 10 years this coming May. I’m so grateful to our team, family and friends for their continued support
YMM: What would you say to your 10-year-old self?
JM: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start. He’d know what to do with that.
YMM: Who is your hero, and why?
JM: Chris Hadfield; he’s accomplished more in his life than I could ever dream of doing. Commander of the ISS, extravehicular activity in space, test pilot and musician. I don’t know anyone cooler than that.
YMM: How should success be measured?
JM: Success should be measured in the value it provides to your life without monetary measurement as the priority. Sure, money is important but when it becomes the main priority other values get compromised.
YMM: What is one thing you could improve in?
JM: Always trying to improve every day, with the main focus being on listening to other people and understanding what they are saying from their perspective.
