Championing Stability and Community Growth

CLASS OF 2025

When Kristopher arrived in Fort McMurray nearly two decades ago, he expected to stay for six months. Fresh from Victoria, with roots in Winnipeg, he had taken a short-term contract in the oil industry, one of countless newcomers drawn north by opportunity. What he didn’t anticipate was falling in love with the community, the people, and the deep sense of purpose he found here. Nineteen years later, he’s not only built a life and a family in the region, but he’s also helping shape its future.

As Chief Operating Officer of Alcor Facilities Management Inc., a division of the Centerfire Energy Group, Kristopher leads with a community-first mindset grounded in longevity and local pride. Alcor has been part of the region for 53 years, and he sees his leadership role as a responsibility to both honour that legacy and build on it.

“The most fulfilling aspect of my career is our community involvement,” he says. Whether it’s hiring local talent, training workers for new contracts, or helping sponsor and attend community events, Kristopher believes the impact of business goes far beyond the job site. “In Fort McMurray, it’s clear how much local businesses can positively influence the city and its residents when community engagement is a priority. I consider myself fortunate to be with a company that fully supports this.”

That sense of responsibility was planted early. Raised in a family that valued service over recognition, Kristopher grew up watching his relatives devote time to charitable work without expecting anything in return. “Their example taught me that service isn’t about recognition or praise; it’s simply what good people do.” That early influence has informed both his personal and professional life.

Today, much of his volunteer focus is dedicated to supporting children’s charities in the region. Most recently, he organized a golf tournament and bottle drives to raise funds for Autism RMWB, an effort that saw strong participation and community support. As a proud member of the Fort McMurray Shriners, Kristopher contributes to initiatives that uplift families and local organizations. Those efforts, he notes, are made stronger by the people he volunteers alongside. “What motivated me to get involved in the community was meeting like-minded people who had a passion for community involvement. After getting involved and seeing the difference you can make, it just makes you want to do more.”

Nearly twenty years in the region have given him a front-row view of its resilience and its challenges. From wildfires and floods to oil price drops and economic uncertainty, Kristopher has watched the community weather these swings with strength and compassion. Those experiences shaped his commitment to stability. “I believe the most significant challenge Fort McMurray always faces is the ups and downs we experience every few years. Adding a higher level of stability for the local people who live in this city should be a key focus for all leaders in industry and government.”

For Kristopher, creating that stability starts with hiring locally and nurturing the region’s workforce. He sees Alcor’s role—and his own—as helping residents build long-term futures here. “By prioritizing local hiring and nurturing talent, we empower residents and strengthen Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo. Equally vital is our dedication to community engagement, through sponsorships and active support, we weave a vibrant tapestry of connection and growth.”

Family remains his grounding force. With a teenage son involved in local sports, an “amazing wife” Nataliia, and a newborn on the way, Kristopher’s personal life is rich with purpose. “It’s important to take the time to enjoy these moments,” he says. His aspirations for the next few years reflect that balance: invest in his family, deepen community partnerships, and continue growing Alcor’s impact through innovation, opportunity, and local leadership.

Kristopher came north for a contract and found a calling. Today, he stands among the region’s builders and believers, driven not by accolades, but by the quiet conviction that community is something you build, protect, and pass on.
