Kritsana Naowakhun

Kritsana Naowakhun hails from Bangkok, Thailand. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an art specialization in sculpture, and currently works for Suncor Centre of Performing Arts.

He recently sat down with YMM and chatted about his life after leaving the fashion industry in Thailand.

YMM: What accomplishments are you most proud of?

KN:

I am most proud that I am able to live my dream of using my art education to create art for a living and to also share my knowledge and experience with this community. I never thought I would be here in Canada living my dream.

YMM: What is the most rewarding part of your career?

KN:

The opportunity to share my diverse skills from sculpture to painting, installation to photography throughout the province. There are so many art opportunities here and I feel blessed to be able to be a part of the art community.

YMM: Describe your perfect day in YMM.

KN:

Spending the day walking with my family in the Birchwood Trails and painting outdoors. Basically enjoying the beautiful nature here in the Wood Buffalo region.

YMM: Who is your hero?

KN:

My mom! When I was 17 I lost my father to cancer. Her strength and sacrifice afterward to provide for me and my two younger sisters to be well educated is truly inspiring. Her hard work, faith, and dedication to helping the poor in Thailand is why she is my hero.

YMM: For what are you most grateful?

KN:

I am most grateful for the opportunity to be a Canadian and bring my culture and education here to share with others. To find a place and a second home here while still being able to hold on to my roots.

YMM: What three words best describe you?

KN:

PASSION PERSISTENCE PRACTICE

Passion – find your passion, what makes you feel alive and well, enrich your life

Persistence – anything worth doing in life doesn’t come easy, don’t give up, learning takes time

Practice – never stop practicing your skills, never stop learning.
