CLASS OF 2022
, AGE 49
Tanya is a dedicated member of the community. Her work ethic, commitment to care and generosity are what make her an amazing individual.
She is a wife, homeschool mom, grandmother, and self-described Keeper of the Home, and she recently shared with YMM about the passion she lives her life with as one of this year’s Top 50 Under 50.
YMM: What is the most rewarding part of your career?
TR: Being able to spend my life married to an incredible husband who has the same goals for life as me; disciplining our children to love the Lord Jesus and for them to have a lifelong love of learning and seeing the fruit of our labours.
YMM: What keeps you in Fort McMurray?
TR: Family. All of our children were born in Fort McMurray, and four have grown to adulthood here. This is home! The community is very family-friendly. The community here has done a fantastic job at bringing activities to the community, and also the residents take pride in developing activities for families.
YMM: What is the best advice that you ever received?
TR: A quote I stand for: ‘And then she realized she was replaceable in every area of her life except her home. So she invested her time, her energy, and her heart wisely’.
YMM: Describe your perfect day in YMM.
TR: A walk with my family into the Boreal Forest, identifying the wildflowers, trees, mushrooms, fungi, lichen and animals along the way.
YMM: What is something that people are always surprised to learn about you?
TR: That I have 10 children, and I have/am homeschooling them from birth to graduation.
YMM: How should success be measured?
TR: Success could be measured by being able to stay focused on your conviction, task, job, dreams, ambitions etc… even though the things around you are going out of control.
