Jessie Wyatt
Fort McMurray’s Biggest Cheerleader
CLASS OF 2025
For more than two decades, Jessie Wyatt has proudly called Fort McMurray home. As a licensed property manager with Coldwell Banker, she has dedicated her career to helping people find not just a place to live, but a home where they can build memories, raise families, and thrive. Her deep-rooted belief in this community shines through in everything she does.
Jessie moved to Fort McMurray in 2000 with her father, who came north for work. What began as a family move turned into a lifelong commitment to the region. “I am a huge Fort McMurray supporter,” she says. “I have lived here 25 years and have had the best experiences.”
Over the years, Jessie has watched the city grow and evolve while raising her own family here. She and her husband have been together for 25 years and raised two children who are now adults. “They have had wonderful life experiences, sports, education, and travel, and I believe it’s because we live here and have taken advantage of the amazing opportunities our city has to offer,” she says.
Jessie’s work as a property manager is driven by compassion and purpose. “The most rewarding part of my career is creating safe homes for individuals, a space they can love and create warm memories in,” she explains. “My favourite are young families. I remember those days fondly myself and love that we can provide this space for them to grow.”
Beyond her career, Jessie is deeply involved in supporting mental health initiatives, particularly through the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Her passion for this cause stems from personal experience. “I have family members who have suffered from severe mental health issues,” she shares. “I understand that folks sometimes need extra help and assistance. Organizations such as the CMHA are vital in just being a safe place to land if in need.”
Jessie’s empathy and drive to help others are rooted in her own life story. “I come from humble and unprivileged beginnings,” she says. “I truly understand hard times, and I appreciate hard work and effort. I want people to understand that where you come from does not define who you are today. Every day, you can choose to be great. Whatever that means to you, do it. I know you can.”
Her optimism and energy extend to how she views Fort McMurray’s potential. Jessie is passionate about challenging outdated perceptions of the community and encouraging newcomers to see all it has to offer. “I meet a lot of people who are new to town that still have the old 2005 perspective…that party and drugs are all they’re going to find here,” she says. “I truly try to encourage our residents to get out and explore the community. We have a vibrant theatre crowd, the best live music bands every weekend, churches of many denominations, children’s activities, parent groups, you name it, and Fort McMurray has the best of it.”
Looking ahead, Jessie is focused on growth, both personally and professionally. “I have put my heart and soul into my business,” she says. “I may not always get it right, but I will always try. I hope to stay consistent, stay positive, and always move forward with integrity.” Personally, she looks forward to this next phase of life with her husband as they watch their children’s hard work and ambitions take shape. “We could not be prouder parents,” she says.
Jessie sums up her outlook perfectly: Fort McMurray is the best place to live. Let’s show the rest of Canada how great we are!
Through her work, volunteerism, and contagious enthusiasm, Jessie Wyatt continues to embody the spirit of the community she loves: hardworking, welcoming, and full of heart.
